Definitely a bit of noise here and there even on a very clean pressing, but it's not so bad as to make the record unplayable as some of the reviews below made me fear. Still worthwhile if you love these Modest Mouse songs imo

As others have noted, this pressing is not that great. first couple songs play p good, but after that, filled with lots of annoying surface noise, which makes the rest of the record practically unlistenable. Its a shame, cause i feel like this has some of MM's best work on it.

Mine suffers from many of the same issues listed below. Not a fantastic pressing, but a great compilation. Purchased from Fat Possum in 2018, mine did not include a stickered barcode and has additional info in the runout [Chicago Mastering Service]. Anyone else have the same? Wondering if I should add the info or submit a new release.

Edited 3 years agoSo my factory sealed copy came pre-scratched all over side a, which left a good amount of it very annoying to listen too. The toothpick trick made it a little more acceptable, but the fact that I had to do that on a brand new copy is very disappointing. The mastering on this pressing is great, but the QC is abysmal.... Probably won't be on rotation often, but the album was $20 so I suppose it wasn't a huge loss.
Maybe wait for a repress, unless you want to gamble the quality. -
The first copy I had really loud clicks on the quiet part of Medication and some on the end of All Night Diner. I returned it and got another copy. The second copy played really well except for some clicks also on the end All Night Diner. Not terrible as it’s the end of the song and the last song on the album. Both had some imperfections on the vinyl very minor surface noise (nothing to complain about). The album mixed very well and has nice dynamics compared to the CD. Really cool packaging and a great collection of tracks for a cheep price.

Original pressing is significantly nicer, though this one is sufficient and superior to the cd/mp3 versions.
-
My copy had a messed up center hole with lots of flashing, haven't even been able to play it yet. Not super impressed.

This reissue really disappointed me with it's sound. I LOVE this release from MM and was really looking forward to playing it but it was so quiet and had tons of surface noise on top of that. I just bought an original and I think it sounds much better so if you're unsure of which version to get, for me it was worth spending a little more to get an original pressing.
