David Sylvian was right to insist this not to be released under the Japan moniker. The simple fact that it was created by the same people did not automatically mean it amounted to the same sound. Rain Tree Crow is musically a horse of a very different colour indeed. Aspects of blues and jazz are quite apparent as are certain atmospheric elements of Sylvian's solo career (in which direction it seems to lean more) with the presence of Michael Brook and Bill Nelson. An adjustment, but worthwhile.
