A very thin pressing, and also cut fiarly quietly. A lot of deadwax on each side, Side D is the one that come closest to the label, being a few minutes longer than the rest, bit there's still about an inch of space less. I think having such thing grooves might make it more susceptible to wear, as my second hand copy has a tiny nick on Side A that causes a skip on the title track (though not a locked groove).
Underneath all that though, if you turn up the volume, the music actually sounds pretty good. Probably a good pressing, but only if you find it in EX or NM condition. -
How did any of you owners manage to (cut?) the pvc cover sleeve without damaging the packaging? bought this version yestarday but haven't opened it for this reason....kinda annoying to own such a great copy of a great album but have to keep it sealed. any suggestions?

this album helped me get through my first ever whitey after smoking hash for the first time at high school.

Edited 19 years agoI believe this is one of the Top Ten all time electronic music albums ever! I've listened to this album for more than 12 years now and it never ceases to amaze me. The beautifully textured and complex layers of sound and rhythm morph from one track into the next, yet each track works equally well on it's own. Some parts are haunting and quiet while others make you wanna get up and dance. This album is a trip through peaks and valleys, crafted to perfection by The Orb.

The regular U.K. release of this epic album. A journey into the spaceship Orb back when floppy hats and big outsized tros were still okay. Complete with two prints. One of a mad scientist type with his weird looking P.A. brain eater set up and one other one which I don't recall what it looks like. Probably about the most straight ahead release possible out of this bunch. Still very worth a listen and worth owning but this probably hasn't aged too terribly well. But what full length electronic based album from this period actually has aged well?
