This is a great little combo pack of everything Underworld at the time. Of course it's mainly focused on 'Born Slippy', arguably the finest track Underworld would ever produce, but does feature a (well actually two, thanks to SomeWhiteNoise below for pointing it out) remix(es) of 'Banstyle', a track on Underworld's album 'Second Toughest in the Infants', which was still relatively new at the time, Banstyle being coned with 'Sappys Curry' on the album. As well as this, an inclusion of 'Dark + Long (Dark Train)', Underworld's previous hit, is a nice touch, especially as the US had never had an official release of it yet. So a bunch of great Underworld stuff, all for 50p!

Edited 11 years agoI was hoping for something better! Sick keyboards, sick percussion, sick beat, but fatally bad vocals. They totally kill the atmosphere for me, and it sounds like rambling that just never ends... I don't know how people actually like it, but I guess it just isn't my cup of tea.

Edited 12 years agoDarren Price's "Remix" of Born Slippy NUXX (i.e. the second one found on this release, eight minutes long) is actually a remix of Banstyle. Not sure if this mislabel was intentional or not, but it's clearly a remix of Banstyle and not Slippy - listen especially towards the end of the track.

Edited 19 years ago"Born Slippy" is an extremely overrated track in my opinion. Lots of people who despised Techno at the time surprizingly fell in love with this, mainly because it was featured in the movie "Trainspotting". "Nuxx" is nothing else than a dry drum pattern mixed with a couple of nice synth strings and a sick voice. No real melody, not much percussions. I always wondered why it caused such a commotion out there. The Deep Pan mix is much better, evolving in a wider, luminous depth. The sick vocals are left away to give priority to the melody. Darren Price doesn't add anything new to the lot with his 2 versions. "Dark & Long" is a superb House track, dark and moody, in my point of view much better than "Born Slippy" (it is also featured in the movie "Trainspotting", in the club scene, but was edited digitally to 10 minutes on the soundtrack - nice different ending). The last track, "Banstyle" is a well done, alleviating remix by Alex Reece, with a catchy little melody.

one of my favorite purchases i've ever made. almost an hour of fantastic music for $6.00. underworld have arguably the best techno track ever created in their hands, and they have almost magically kept it a favorite by releasing it with some fantastic reinterpretations along with another well-known track, Dark & Long (dark train) and a Banstyle mix.
