David Bowie’s all time worst record. Two fantastic singles (“Loving The Alien” and “Blue Jean”) and absolutely nothing else of value here. Even the much maligned “Never Let Me Down” is better than this! EMI we’re pushing hard for a quick follow-up to “Let’s Dance” and… Bowie didn’t have the songs, or the production. A turkey.

Often considered the start of Bowie's 80's slump, Tonight is, in my opinion, not as bad as everyone says it is. Is it an incredibly dull follow-up to Let's Dance? Most certainly. Is it a garbage record? I disagree. It's got plenty of good performances from Bowie, and the opening track showcases that he was still capable of producing artistic masterpieces under a pop rock template. I'd say this is an album that's good to have on in the background; really, it ought to be thought of less as "Let's Dance 2" and more "Pin Ups 2," given the sheer amount of covers on the album.
Overall I'd say I agree with the average rating of 3.6/5; it's certainly no masterpiece, but in its own right it's a decent record.
