David Bowie – Tonight

The Japanese sleeve is noticeably brighter than the original UK.

I recently picked up the 2019 180-gram vinyl reissue of David Bowie’s Tonight from Parlophone at Amoeba Records in Hollywood, and I couldn't be more thrilled. As a long-time fan who originally bought the CD upon its release, I've always been curious about how this album would translate to vinyl.

Wow, did it exceed my expectations! The sound quality is remarkable—clean, with no surface noise, allowing Bowie's unique artistry to shine through. The warmth of the vinyl really brings out the nuances in his performance, enhancing tracks that I’ve loved for years.

Listening on my system was a revelation; the dynamics are richer, and the depth of sound is truly immersive. This reissue has reignited my appreciation for Tonight and made me grateful I finally made the leap to vinyl. If you're a fan of Bowie or just curious about this album, I highly recommend this pressing. It’s a fantastic addition to any collection.

Great pressing! Maybe not his best album, but “Loving the Alien ” and “Blue Jean” make it worth the price of ission. But again, this pressing! It sounds amazing.

I don't know why this record gets so hated on- yes it didn't have the snap and punch and hit machine of Let's Dance-- and apparently there was discrepancy on how to produce with two producers, Padgham and Bramble.. but there are some killer tracks on this record! Far superior Bowie than what was to follow in the mid-late 80's...

It's so cool to have an early Japanese for U.S.A. Bowie but the sound is not what one might hope. This is a reproduction of the vinyl production master so it kicks but is quite compressed.

Fantastic album, with excellent pressing.
The soundstage of this album is quite similar to "Let's Dance" if you need a reference.

David Bowie’s all time worst record. Two fantastic singles (“Loving The Alien” and “Blue Jean”) and absolutely nothing else of value here. Even the much maligned “Never Let Me Down” is better than this! EMI we’re pushing hard for a quick follow-up to “Let’s Dance” and… Bowie didn’t have the songs, or the production. A turkey.
