This CD has just sold on ebay uk (8/4/24) for the princely sum of £841.00. The seller hasn't re-listed it yet, so it looks like the sale was final.

Silly asking prices, I wouldn't pay a cent for this. The copy submitted on the database appears to have early rot. I wouldn't be surprised if most copies of this dies from rot within the next 5-10 years.
Copies sure love to change ownership. I've seen some CDs that probably had similar print run almost never appear for sale. (I'm talking about the French Eurodance singles released on Airplay, Panic, Flarenasch etc.)

I think that it's a scam of the label that re-pressing this CD. They bought all the 2nd hard copies and selling it here for high price to make people to buy the new release. Except for that it's noting special in this CD and I'll not buy it even for 1$

Most reference and history said Now 8 was the first one to be relessed on CD but Now 4 was the first CD to be released but not commercially produced.

Edited 5 years agotrouble is like most very old discs (last a life time..mmm.....) this unfortunately was printed on the old Nimbus CD's and they used some dodgy lacquar right up to 1988 they went sticky getting a finger prints on these and wiping them away was a nightmare if not careful the whole top layer print would come away as an avid CD collector with experience with many types of pressings.
although not as bad as PDO they remedied this with a better formulation in the very late 80's and early 90's
when I was buying CD's I always hoped for DADC or Disctronics pressing back in the day ;)

Apparently there was only around 500 copies of Now 4 manufactured on the new (at the time) Compact Disc format.

I got a free copy, just to try it, from a retailer when I purchased my first CD Player back in early '85. Never brought it back. I recently found it when moving houses. I added some BaOI info and some pictures. Never knew that it was on sale for huge prices.

Can anyone explain what (besides scarcity) would make this worth $650 USD? Are any of these songs unique to this release?

This is the Holy Grail of "Now's", being the first ever to be released on CD. Start rummaging through your loft or basement. You may be surprised to see this pop up among an unwanted CD collection; you'll be even more surprised to learn it not changes hands among collectors for mega-bucks...£400+ for a mint one! Get looking!
