It's the mastering that's the problem with the original 1980 pressing. Bruce Foxton has commented on this in Paolo Hewitt's book, saying the tracks lost a lot of their sound when the vinyl was cut. -
You're not alone, I have the same pressing and i had to turn it up. I'm trying to get used to it.

Edited 6 years agoI have a copy of this pressing and it sounds really quiet and flat. Bad mastering or did I get a bad egg?
