most of it sounds great, but the 2nd side of disc 1 for me has loud surface noise throughout all of it besides the first track - almost unlistenable. it's weird i didn't notice it at first, but that was also on my old turntable which was not as good.. disappointing how distracting it is

Edited 8 years agoHello, so as you've seen below this pressing has surface noise issues.
My copy is a hype sticker on the left. There is a pattern of surface noise that rises and disappears. this pressing is not the best... you can hear the music just fine but you WILL static and crackling during it.
Quite annoying. A disappointing presssing. If you can, cop the original. -
Edited 8 years agoI made a different submission for the sound quality pressing but people didn't believe me & my submission was merged.
There is a sound quality issue with the LPs that have the hype sticker on the right. Hype sticker on the left sounds fine.

Have to agree with all these comments, just picked this up, crazy amount of surface noise, pains me to say but I'd avoid this at all costs.

My research has found there were two pressings on the "gun metal" grey vinyl-- the first one is OK, relatively quiet for colored vinyl, the second pressing was bad, you can actually see it looking at the vinyl: looks dull instead of shiny. It would also appear the first pressing had the sticker on the left, the second had the sticker on the right (though I can't confirm they were all like this.)

I agree 100% with beatkomornik. Classic album, but surface noise is as loud if not louder than the music.

the album is great (musically). however, the pressing and the remaster is not the best imho. my records are noisy as hell, the lyrics are often louder then expected and the whole thing is off-centered. too bad, because otherwise this is an out of this world album
