Have a copy of this variant since day 1 release of the album. Nothing to complain about the sound, it plays beautifully.
My only disappointment is about the card saying "high quality digital version of the recording" and all they give us is mp3 files. That's not really my vision of high quality lol -
Great album but my pressing is very noisy. Now i prefer to listen on streamer.
It’s not my first disappointement with dead ocean records. -
Edited 4 months agoThis is a very beautiful pressing, it sounds good, but there is some surface noise and it is not totally flat. Not that it affects play, but it's there. It plays beautifully and cinematically in a way.
The gold has a greenish undertone. The cover and the label are not white, they are creamy-beige and the print on the cover is also not black, it's dark brown. I've heard someone said that other variants have white cover and labels, maybe that information will help you decide which colorway you want.
Overall the set it gorgeous. It also includes the code and a postard with signatures. I love it. -
Nice dynamics, and a couple of great tracks, hopefully the rest will grow on me in time,
but whoever makes the decision to put glitter into the vinyl needs to knock it in the head,
because it's playing havoc during the gaps between the music,
although, when the music cuts in, it stops, it's then undetectable,
it makes me wonder if it's done that way for some sort of nostalgic reason, haha,
if so, we'd all rather have the silence please. -
The pressing is flat and relatively silent but mine is muddy, has audible distortion on some tracks in both channels and seems to be cut at too low of a volume. I had to turn my volume knob way up. I compared some tracks back to back with the digital master streaming via Roon into the same amplifier (after turning the volume down about 25% to equalize SPL's) and there's no way I'll listen to this pressing again. To echo some of the other comments that as to the quality of the album this is not the band's best work.

Not super impressed with the pressing. I find it noisy/muddy overall and find the mixing to be fairly different compared to the digital. As for the album it has maybe two tracks worth returning to and sounds like Slowdive throughout, but it's far from remarkable. Their worst album.

This is the best-sounding vinyl release from Dead Oceans that I've ever encountered. Finally some QC from the label!

My copy (gold opaque) sounds great. I was worried because the USPS letter carrier left it directly in the sun on a 100 degree september day, but I let it cool off inside the mailer and avoided any warps. Great album, and I'm really happy with this pressing. Brilliant highs and dynamic lows.

Bought direct from official Dead Oceans seller, Secretly, with 4 number 1 inch diagonal creases to 4 corners rear of main sleeve. This version had different bar code ( 6 5660 - 51532 - 4 7) and catalogue number (DOC232LP-C2) on small white rectangular sticker and well as MADE IN CZECH REPUBLIC on smaller transparent sticker, both from bottom rear of shrink wrap. No signed postcards for me but I can also report the gold opaque vinyl record plays very cleanly with no surface noise detected. Overall recommend as an excellent album musically which is very nicely packaged.

I was a bit reluctant to but this. Dead Ocean has a history of awful sounding pressings and that's a color vinyl but it's almost silent, dynamic and clear sounding. The music itself is top of the top, of course. Two records in and that's easily the most solid come-back since Dinosaur Jr.
