Edited 3 days agoOh goodness…… this is an incredible pressing, was trying to find out who cut the Lacquer….. Sax mastered it & it was cut at TML but it’s really great. Really dynamic.
I got it home & was very pleased with it out of the sleeve, then I cleaned it, really good.
My two best sounding PF albums are The Division Bell (2016 Doug Sax Remaster)…. & ‘This’. I think this gets it, it’s just better from a separation perspective & cleaner & more defined in the mids.
I’m so pleased with it, on disc 2 my copy has a pressing flaw, like a bubble but not quite a bubble and it causes a slight click for around 15 rotations. Normally this is MORE than enough to kick it out of bed but…… sonically it’s too good, I’d rather keep this because I think I got really lucky, the definition between the grooves is really apparent & a deep black gloss still, not played much.
But that aside, the pressing is superb, the lacquer must have been cut really well, not sure if Sax cuts but I wouldn’t be surprised…… the whole sides have been utilised, plenty of room for the dynamics required to produce this quality of sound.
My one…….

Immersive soundstage, pin sharp sound effects and instrument separation throughout this pressing, but special mention has to go to Mason's drumming and overall drum sound; it's incredible here.
-
Imagine all the money Pink Floyd would make if they put aside their petty quibbles and released this classic album on BLU RAY AUDIO or SACD!
-
Exceptionally good sound on this pressing (3U variant). Just amazing. Almost peak vinyl (and peak Floyd?) in of sound quality. Very quiet noise floor, great dynamics and punch in tracks like the Wall. Gilmore’s strat has never sounded better.

Edited one year agoThis is an outstanding pressing of what is probably the most important record of my lifetime so far. The 2016 DSD64 cut is excellent, too, but it's just nice to have one of the actual pressings that hit the shelves five months after I was born.

Despite being an official release, Engrish still pervades the packaging: the box says "Most Shocking is the Public to Enjoy Quality Cars", and humorously, "Comfortably Numb" is rendered as "Come Fartably Numb" on the back. -
Edited one year agoIs someone willing and able to rate this against the 2016 BG pressing?
I have the 2016 and it’s super clear and quiet, but maybe a little flat. -

I have found a copy of the wall with extra graffiti on the front and back covers. "Pink Floyd The Wall" text on the front is one of the sticker versions. The back cover has the additional text "Claudeine the French whore". The front cover has "Pink Yepper the bore" as additional text. Has anyone seen this version? I have looked all over discogs and the internet for this issue with no luck.
By the way, don't type "Claudeine the French whore" into your goggle search, you will not like the sites that populate. UGHHH. -
I think the early first pressing has only one catalog number on innersleeve, because all the others lasted pressing has three catalog numbers.
