Reviews

Picture Disc, Reissue, Remastered - listened to all four sides now and NOT disappointed! i got into the band on 'Disintegration' but more so 'wish' when they had more of a rock edge. I bought a extended 2 CD version of Disintegration that is GREAT with all the out takes/live material - this x2LP is very much in the same spirit but all LIVE performances of this period in the bands tour. I'm a big fan of 'live' albums - this is far beyond my expectations both in look and sound. When i saw 'from the edge of the deep green sea' LIVE i HAD to hear it - yeah it's great!

Edited 3 months agoon my copy, there are two skips at the very beginning of "Just Like Heaven" ... & it's not my turntable setup. definitely a pressing issue or scratched somehow (before I opened it?) I don’t lament the missing intro of this classic too much because the rest of the album is so magical and the rest of the tracks play fine, but it still kinda sucks
Also agree with another reviewer here that there is lots of surface noise on all disks that is only luckily drowned out by the beautiful music. -
Edited one year agoATTENTION - Popmarket just confirmed a black vinyl edition of Show is scheduled for release on 8 September!
At the height of the buying panic of the hideous RSD picture disc I put out the notion that a black vinyl version would surely be an eventual option, but I was dismissed. 1,900 of y’all couldn’t play the patience game and just had to throw down $$ on Robert’s fetishized pic discs … -
my copy has horrible background noise all through record two ... real shame. record one is ok, though.

Don’t understand the vitriol. The Cure’s picture discs sound amazing, against all accepted wisdom. This is no exception. Deserves to be turned up. All the way. Amazing pressing!
-
El sonido es bueno, pero es increible que tenga saltos en las caras B, C y D. Una edición en color o en 180 grms hubiese valido más la pena.
-
Can’t believe people who don’t mind this insane amount of groove noise! I‘ve never been a fan of picture discs since I find them to be unnecessarily gimmicky, also not a fan of RSD ripoffs, but as this is an actual Smith remaster, I had to make an exception. Bad call, in hindsight. Not sure how much you can enjoy a good remaster when the medium it’s pressed on doesn‘t deliver, quality-wise. Never falling for this sort of crap again. And you shouldn’t either.

Since I avoid to buy picture disc, this was an exception due to the reviews. It sounds phenomenal and very little clicks. Beside this there is a loud groove noise like picture discs are known for. Since this is louder music, the noise is not as noticable, only in quiet parts, but it is a loud roaring noise. Still I am happy with it as it looks fantastic and the sound quality is great.

Sounds splendid. The packaging quality is great, each disc comes packaged in a good quality plastic sleeve inside the stunning gatefold with the generous round cutouts. I was reticent to buy as the retail price was high but I couldn't not after seeing it in person on the day.
