Picked this up recently and it became arguably the best-sounding in my record collection (of approx 2000). Within the first three seconds of "Whole Lotta Love" I had to grab onto my b@lls because I thought there was a real chance that they'd be rocked right the eff off my body. Can't recommend this one highly enough.

So glad to see all these positive reviews!! I had only had the MoFi since it came out and always though it to be a killer issue. MoFi gets a bad rap on most audiophile sites for their smiley EQ that sucks out the midrange. This was very apparent to me on their Parsons I Robot original issue. Any standard Arista stock copy killed the MoFi. Not ALL MoFi titles were this extreme though. Two years ago I came across a NM RL of Zep II for a very good price at a local brick & mortar and pulled the trigger. After play inspecting it, (NM, closer to mint!) did the shootout with the MoFi. These reviews line up with my ears. This MoFi sounds very close to the RL. In fact the only difference my ears could detect was in the top end. The MoFi had a tiny bit more but not enough to sound overdone. In fact it made the RL sound a tiny bit rolled off but again, not enough to say it mattered. SO, now that I have both I feel there is no need to try any other pressings. My system:VPI Scoutmaster w/periphery ring, Van Den Hul cartridge, EAR 834 tube pre-amp, PS Audio Delta 100 Power Amp, B&W P7 speakers, Velodyne Subwoof.

The big debate between a solid VG+ RLSS (both sides) CTH, and a NM- MFSL. I have a decent system and my RLSS was a quite copy yet I still found myself preferring the MFSL. This version is absolutely incredible. When it comes to price point this version is a no brainer.

Edited one year agoYes, I will chime in with just about everyone else here and say, WOW! Hell yeah! On my system (link below) I found this li'l puppy ultra dynamic and tonally balanced. Detailed as much as it should be, and with nice decay in the transients. Let's just say I never EVER heard Moby Dick sound like this! (or anything else on this album) Before scoring a lovely, clean copy from a very nice fellow member on the Steve Hoffman Forums (JGrillo) for a great price my Go To was always the 2nd Japanese pressing, which is indeed very dynamic and detailed. But, I don't think it has near the Punch as this one. DAMN!!!

Yes, this is on par with the RL cuts. I have a VG RL and just grabbed a NM- MOFI for half the $. They are both incredibly detailed and dynamic, but the MOFI is considerably more enjoyable given its playability.

Edited one year agoAmazing clarity and distinction between instruments. Powerful presence, not at all weak or anemic for the sake of transparency. The cymbal decay is like I’ve never heard on a Zeppelin album. The “effects” age as heard in the middle of Whole Lotta Love… like hearing it for the first time ever. I feel that little EQ (if any) was applied to this record by Mofi. There is a faint hiss present, but I only hear it on the headphones, and it is so uniform that I feel it’s an artifact of the master tape itself and not the vinyl. I’m just floored. I’ll never part with this record. Pick up a NM copy if you can swing it. 5 stars all day long.

Wow - that is all I have to say! This sounds split wide open: huge, booming, in your face - all of the things! Great mix and excellent way to experience the album.

Mind bogglingly good! I've been waiting to pull the trigger and I'm sad I waited so long to do it. Flat, silent, dynamic. Wow!!!
