I grew up with the 1991 Goat ("the best record of the 90s"), so when I put on the remaster I was dismayed. Instead of the gut punch of the original this is much less direct. Roomy and boomy, I miss the force, the shove and push of my Jesus Lizard. First I blamed my new player setup, but digging out the old copy confirmed it. It wasn't (just) the record player, it was old people losing the plot.
On the plus side, sure, better separation.

Everything sounds big, fat, and aggressive. Just like their live shows back in the day. Love this pressing.

This is just the best album ever for me! Sounds monstrous, creepy, psychic, twisted yet loaded with hooks to memorize. Can't find any single fault with this noise rock masterclass gem. And the remastered version blows the original out of the water.
