Does anyone know if this came with a printed inner sleeve or just a generic one?

Is it just me, or does the reverb on this version sound outstanding? It sounds, well, real. Organic. Also, Barrett's voice sounds great. I can hear a unique annunciation. On, The Scarecrow, it's quite evident. This version sounds interestingly great. I wish the drums were more up-front but whatever. There's detail on this pressing I've never heard before. And that's probably due to future compressors and limiters on all the later versions. (digitization, etc.) What a treat of a record.

The least rare of the original US 1967 "Piper" releases is often knocked for its audio quality and track selection, though neither are irredeemably terrible. The opening track is a thin, faux stereo version of their hit "See Emily Play" and as a result, the rest of the album feels suspect. Very thin bass response throughout and truncated sides of approximately 16:40 and 17:52 are shortcomings. A couple misspellings of track titles on several versions point to a general lack of care in production. True that "Astronomy Domine" was not released on this version which seems an obvious mistake today, but adding their hit was deemed more important for their debut album in the states in 1967. Generally, I like Piper as an album a lot - in both US and UK forms.

I think this version is worse than the OG UK version. Worse track list and track order.

          Eliminating "Astronomy Domine" was criminal!

Excellent album. I would rate this as one of the best albums from 1967. I like the U.S. Tower running order more than the UK version. Beginning the album with "See Emily Play" and ending it with "Interstellar Overdrive" was a genius move. It flows well with the louder more rocking tracks at the front. Then the softer tracks come in the middle, with I.O. finishing the record. Tower also released two more Pink Floyd albums, Saucerful of Secrets and Soundtrack to the Film More. It is a pity that this version of Piper was not maintained into the CD age, given that the Capitol albums of the Beatles have been released.

The tracks are in different order. "Astronomy Domine", "Flaming" and "Bike" are missing, instead there is "See Emily Play".
