This is the prettiest cover. Truly I get lost in the folklore aesthetic. My vinyl is crisp and sounds heavenly!
-
Sounds perfect- just the occasional tick/pop during the quietest moments but otherwise this a a fantastic pressing.
-
Edited one year agoContrary to most reviews here - my copy sounds audibly fine and plays flawlessly.
It is my best sounding copy along with the "Betty's Garden" variant.
The color actually looks like it's grey physically - similar to LPSS' discs color, but slightly darker in color. -
Very slight static on some of the songs. It’s most noticeable on ‘exile’ and ‘my tears ricochet’ which is a shame - otherwise pretty good! The grey colour fits the aesthetic of folklore perfectly.
-
This Is Me Trying is unplayable on my copy. There's no scratch or dirt so I don't understand. It keeps repeating on the "I just wanted you to know that this is me trying - this is me trying - this is me trying" part in an endless loop. Fitting to the song but annoying!

Edited 3 years agoUPDATED REVIEW:
Ok, I'm 100% sure that my previous review was based on error. There must have been a hair or something on the needle, because I'm playing this album again right now, and it sounds fine. Only issue I have is that disc 2 is warped on side C which makes a weird crackle noise whenever the needle goes over it while playing "illicit affairs", something I hadn't noticed due to it sounding so distorted before. Other than that, it sounds fine. I still maintain what I said about the packaging and vinyl color, though. Stunning.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
This pressing is… not good. Sides A & D sound alright, but everything in between is an awful, distorted mess. Like, it’s bad. I feel it’s wrong to dismiss this pressing completely, though, because it is, in my opinion, one of the prettiest folklore variants, which is why I gave it a two-star rating instead of a one.
My record’s hidden marbling situation is pretty weird and unique; disc one looks mostly semi-translucent grey with sparse opaque-grey swirls, but my second disc is densely opaque-grey with little glints of translucent-grey vinyl in between and it’s STUNNING. If only discogs had an in-review-photo feature, that would be awesome…
All this to say, if you only like the first and last four songs on folklore, then this pressing may be for you, but if you like the whole album, don’t bother assaulting your ears. -
This version is a pretty awful pressing. Would definitely recommend looking at other versions. Plenty of pops, not great sibilance, and Exile is unfortunately really distorted. Worth it only if your collecting all of the versions.
-
Mine honestly sounds pretty rough...very noisy and scratchy. Disappointing because the album itself is amazing.
-
Sound quality is much better than the Target variant but still not what it could be. I feel like this album was made for vinyl so it’s a bit disappointing. Some sides are better than others. Side A is probably the worst but it’s all still listenable
-
It's such a beautiful record. I love the colour, suits the album perfectly.
One question: both my inlays are slightly torn at the bottom due to the vinyls weight. Anyone else has the same issue? It's a bit of a shame, seems like the inlay paper is a little too thin for the vinyls.
