Yopes nails it, totally agree with his judgement. Very fairly priced, though...

Agreed with Astral Records. Sound is overall quite and clean , i would prefer more sound of the audience participation (i was there in Athens at the St.George Lycabettus open air theatre)....

Different tracks sound better than others. It does say recorded over three nights so they probably put the best takes together. Some of versions of certain songs are really good on here. No Self Control and Shock the Monkey were pretty noteworthy. The vinyl is clean and quiet. Some songs sound better than others, but overall I'm pleased.

I perfectly agree with Yopes. It's a pity that Gabriel and his band at the peak of their power have been served so poorly. Have they used digital recording? No idea but this could be one of the reason.
The tracklist is great and each member's performance is fantastic too. The vinyl is noise free but the sound is compressed exept for a few songs, notably Don't give up and In your eyes with Yossou N'dour. The loss of guitar distorsion and heavy synth in these songs lets dynamics more fluid. Katche's drumming is particularly penalised all through out.

Nicely sounding concert. The mastering is fine, good dynamics. But scuffs and scratches are all over the place. Replaced it several times. However I still have a copy with few scratches, but they luckily does not play.

My copy sounds just fine. I'm playing it back with a Stanton 680 HP cartridge. Two things anyone should take into consideration before complaining about the sound quality: (1) It's a live recording. (2) It was recorded over 30 years ago, and even with the best remastering and high quality vinyl found today there is only so much improving producers/mixers can do with the recording technology used in 1987. One good detail about this is that the crowd isn't roaring or screaming , and they didn't put a bunch of microphones to pick that up. For example, as found on Frampton Comes Alive. (Peter Frampton) This doesn't sound like Gabriel's other two more recent live recordings, so don't expect it to and you'll be fine.

Listening to it right now. The sound feels very compressed, not very broad soundstage. It is a bit dissapointing because it was the first time I saw Peter Gabriel live and I a quite different experience.
In of the discs, the pressing is good, not a single noise, technically good, but the audio is a bit dissapointing as I said before. Comparing vinyl vs code, with files at 96 kKz and 24 bits, the wins. Usually is the other way.

Reviewed with Technics SL1200MK-2 with MC Benz Audio Ace Low Output and Schiit Phono Stage in Marantz SR8015. FLAC files played with the Marantz directly.

It’s a great recording. It’s from the “So” tour. As I am a fan that is much more partial to his older material, for some reason I lucked out - I assume this 2LP set must have omitted much of the material they played from the “So” album. There are some selections with Yousou N’Dour and his band, and “Sledgehammer” & “Don’t Give Up” is included”. But it’s more like an updated “Plays Live” than what I initially expected. I like it!
