One of the best EPs of all time IMO. The early Tool sound has always been hard to describe or compare to other artists. I think I've said before that this EP sounds like a mix of Fugazi+(Extreme sounding) Grunge+Converge+I don't even know.
Quite masterful tho.
Rating: 10/10 -
OK... I was all worried mine was messed up, but I have now learned what double-cut vinyl is and how it works. This is like a surreal detail of a dream.
Maybe my needle isn't sharp enough, but it keeps switching back and forth during play. This is not a surreal victory: Wide awake and I'm getting bored, I'm getting bored... Nothing seems to penetrate her, 'cos shes--Saaaa-tan, Saaa-tan... -
Okay question. I seem to have a blue version, with some slight darker blue swirl accents on it. 6-1422-31027-1-9 is de barcode on the back ZOO BMG 1992, The Gaping Lotus Experience is not mentioned in the tracklist. The runout has no markings on side A, nor on B. The record inner marking also has the code 6-1422-31027-1-9. No parental advisory sticker (or not anymore, I bought it in a second hand store). Center image of the praying guy does is centered and not extended through to the upper and lower edges of the sleeve. Tool Opiate is printed on the spine of the sleeve. What fucking version is this? I assume it is another version of the unofficial Red and Magenta releases.
