Paying more than $300 for this? It’s seriously THAT drastic of a difference in sound?

If you think Post is one of the best albums ever, and if you can find a perfect pressing of this record, do not hesitate to pay the extra coin for this release. The dynamics and sound stage are phenomenal; the way they split the songs from one side to the next make for a great journey. There is no sibilance in the vocals, and compared to hi-fi digital (Tidal), this record is a hotter and punchier in the low end.
Unfortunately, the copy I have has pressing defects in the form of lots of cracks—almost a non-fill sound—which ruin the experience for me. I'm going to get a copy of the new Polydor pressing and report back.

Chalk this up to another release I slept on that sold for a reasonable MSRP, but now goes for exorbitant prices on here.. The whole DMM series should get a repress, but most likely won't!
