Great album and under appreciated in my opinion. My copy is very quiet on the mix so I do have to turn the volume knob a couple ticks. It is also very crackly that might be increased by the need to turn it up.

Anyone else have surface noise issues with this record? It seems to me that no matter how mint the copy is, it always ends up with a lot of surface noise. I hear the recent 2015 reissue is pretty quiet though.

Not normally a Springsteen fan, but this LP is irresistible in its stark, stripped down arrangements and dark, poignant songs. I have a portastudio of the type he used to record this, and I'm amazed he got as much sound as he did out of it. Great album.

Mine doesn't have that triangle thing on the label like the one in the photos. Same everything else though.

It is a great record--but is anyone else's mix so low that you have to turn the receiver almost all the way up for an acceptable listening level?

Why hasn't this or many other Springsteens been given the 180gm reissue treatment? This is a haunting, late-night listen album!

Absolutely brilliant young Springsteen - one of those LP's that you get home and play more than twice! Would be interesting to hear a progression of Springsteen songs as his voice ages over time, a bit like a Tom Waits introspective.
