"Power" was a nod to the Norman Whitfield era reimagined. Cold work. Their Atlantic era was not a proper fit (respectfully).

Edited one year ago"The Temptations did the smartest thing by going back to "Motown".....They should have never left!!!! I guess the group and the label had to get together to know what they expect out of each other....
"Power" is the perfect homecoming for the 'Temps" .....The title track (and Crown Jewel) has them back on track, using elements from their "Psychedelic Soul' era (their best era!!!!).....Punchy Horns and Orchestrations, that's "The Temptations"!!!!!
There is plenty to enjoy here...
The 2nd Crown Jewel, "Isn't The Night Fantastic" is a dreamy spicy song that's been missing...."Shadow Of Your Love" and "Can't You See Sweet Thing" are fantastic, once again displaying what the "Temps" are all about Vocally...."I'm Coming Home" rounds the album out nicely, mirroring the group coming back to "Motown"....
No it doesn't start of a new Album Revolution, but it is the best album they released since "A Song For You".......
