I have a Variant 4 and the hand claps are in "Rock With You". Does anyone know if it's Variants 1, 2, or 3 that are without the hand claps?

This pressing sounds immaculate. Blows away most production of today. Punchy and full. It sounds genuinely impressive. I feel like this is the only way to hear the album now.

Edited 3 months agowho added this.. "Percussion [Uncredited] – Sheila Escovedo" !?!?!?
it's simply NOT true.. she may claim otherwise on social media 10,11,12,13 years after MJ's death.
Michael and Quincy would never cheat any session player from receiving their credit!

"Thriller" may have been the album that catapulted Michael's solo career into the absolute stratosphere, but "Off The Wall" paved the way for that record, and this is still the album I throw on most of his. Fun set of songs, great grooves, tasteful instrumentation, and production that manages to be impressively clever whilst avoiding being overwrought. Bernie Grundman's mastering is also top notch.

SInce MOFI just announced a One-Step of this title, so I played my 1979 and it sounds great. No need for the One-Step in my collection

Edited one year agoVery good record. But what i don’t understand is that I have a genuine first pitman press but “rock with you” is the updated version of the song. Anybody got me answer for this?

Outstanding record!! The production on this, not just this particular pressing, but the whole thing by Quincy Jones is a masterpiece. And the mastering is second to none also. The early vinyls just sound sooooooo good! Punchy, alive… I love it.

"Off the Wall," is my favourite album in music. I have 4 version of this LP in vinyl and a a cd. Musically, this album is an absolute gem including collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Brothers Johnson, etc and of course tRod Temperton's song writing, and I have left the genius for last: Mr Quincy Jones.
If you want to experience the best sounding pressing, you have to go for the first edition, which you can obtain for $20.00. The soundstage fills your room; the strings and horn arrangements are sharp, the percussion is well presented and vocals are clear. I also have the half speed version that highlights some instruments due to some more separation of the instruments. However, it lacks of punch, bass in drum kick compared to the first edition. In the end, this is an R&B album, and you need punch. I also have the 180 gram European edition, which is an okay pressing from a digital source.
I love this album so much that I could not stop me from purchasing an additional 1st edition that I happen to see at my local store. it is in mint condition and less worn out that my own copy.
