A lacking, decidedly more mellow approach from earlier Casiopea efforts, their 1981 Cross Point now omits any horn accompaniment and frantic, fusion workouts of earlier days for what seems, at times, a too tranquil, comfortable set. Despite its campier delivery, Cross Point paved the way for what would become strong standards "Galactic Funk" and "Domino Line," both of which had been built upon at superior live sets like "Mint Jam" and beyond, almost eclipsing this one's significance in the band's struggle to find a vital sound in the 1980s.
