I finally, finally got a copy of this and yes, it sounds fantastic, turn it up and do not look back. Played through an old marantz receiver and 2M Blue needle, just rock heaven.

As all agree, this particular version of this definitive album is simply breathtaking; but it doesn't hurt to pair this masterpiece, engineered by a very young Glyn Johns, cut in this instance by BG himself, with tubes and a Koetsu Rosewood Signature tweaked very carefully for this audition. Thanks God I acquired this. And for me, this is high school, I was 15 when this appeared. What a time it was. Thanks to Led Zeppelin. As it happens, I was at an event this weekend with a little boy in the crowd, age 1 and 1/2, arms wrapped very lovingly around his musician father, adorned by a miniscule black Led Zeppelin tee. Very spiritual, that scene. In theory, there are countless other tikes in 2024 wearing tiny Led Zep tees all over the world preparing to grow up to sing I Can't Quit You Babe and How Many More Times. I sure hope so.

Yep, unbelievable pressing. So glad I finally took the plunge and bought this. While they’re my favorite band of all time, I’ve never thought of Zeppelin albums of being audiophile quality until I spun this. Who knows if acoustic sounds will ever press these again from the original master tapes. These classic record pressings are just so special!

I totally agree with the reviews below.
Phenomenal pressing, the best from the Classic LZ catalog I own.
My UK plum A1/B1 litirally trashed and sounds sooo 'thin' if you comare it to this.
Dazed & Confused without punchy low end is confusing...Other tracks lacking bass too imo.
Thanks, Bernie Grundman, great job, definitive copy for me.
Will be one of my 'audiosystem show off' vinyls ! -

I have many Classic records pressings, including the Zep catalog. This is best sounding record in my collection - my go to for showing friends how amazing vinyl can sound!

Edited 4 years agoThe Classic Records pressing of the first Zep album is by far the best pressing ever made, regardless of weight. Although, the 4xLP single-sided 45rpm pressing by Classic is likely even better, but I’ve never heard one. Why some other pressings are said to be better than my 200g Classic pressing can only be claimed by those who never heard it, or perhaps by collectors defending the original US or UK pressing they paid big money for. The Classic is better than the original because it was pressed with equipment that was practically identical to the original, except the equipment was brought up to modern standards with innards that improved its specifications that were far better than the older, (antique!) equipment. The Classic pressing has a low-end heft that puts the original to shame, a clear, transparent midrange, and sharp, realistic treble. Plus, no surface noise. Zero!

Edited 3 years agoWhilst this is an excellent sounding mastering with great clarity, the 1970s US George Piros mastered "C/CC" is the ultimate sounding pressing. Comparable to an "RL" II. Great bass and slam. Hits like a train!
