The release of The Big Bubble brought an end to a 3 years wait for the next chapter in the Mole Trilogy. However, rather than being part 3, which was expected to explain the outcome of the Mole/Chub war that was left unresolved in The Mark Of The Mole, this release is actually part 4 of the Trilogy. The Residents felt that they were under too much artistic pressure to bring a final close to their epic work, and they decided to extend the storyline rather than terminate it. They do insist, however, that part 3 will eventually be released.
The Big Bubble is the name of a fictional rock group (formed decades after the war) consisting of Mole/Chub crosses, and this release is the first Lp by the band -- as performed by The Residents. Many of the vocals on the album contain examples of the Mohelmot tongue, the traditionnal spoken language of the Moles before their arrival in Chubland.
