Just got an unopened copy of this, the package is the same as this and the EU release but the matrix only matched the test pressing! What the hell did I just get my hands on???

Edited 2 years agoOne of the best rap albums of the last decade and maybe even my favorite Dre album. Even if the typical Dre sound doesn't ring through here anymore, the production is unparalleled. So many good varied beats on here. To me, Dre isn't a particularly good or respectable rapper, but as a producer he's one of the best that's ever come his way, and his ability to bring talent together and get the best out of them remains outstanding to this day. Think of it like a DJ Khaled album, but in a good way. A lot of high quality features meets expensive production, only that, unlike DJ Khaled, the result here is actually very good.
The vinyl is outstanding. One of the first hip hop LPs I owned and to this day an album that I really enjoy playing because it sounds so good. This is how a hip hop album should sound on record. High quality 180g vinyl, pressed flat and centered, no surface noise, great bottom end with real oomph behind it. Absolutely to recommend! -

Just listened to my pressing for the first time and was blown away.
The sound was nice and open, little to no noise, and the imaging was fantastic.
A pressing like this reminds me of why I prefer vinyl to digital (when it's done right). -
Album ist very good. All the songs are catchy but sometimes less editing would be better. I get the feeling that it is overproduced. Nevertheless I like it very much.
The sound quality on this release is also great. It was definitely well mastered! -
I know Im a bit late here but I did get a signed copy of the vinyl. No idea how much it is worth though. Can't find them for sale anywhere.

The vinyl sounds like a MP3 ! I'm pretty surprised even though I knew the album was mixed at first, for a mp3 release only. But Dre and his crew could have made an effort to improve the quality of the sound for the vinyl release. Specially, when you know it is and will be definitely his last album.

My copy has a lot of pink/purple streaks in the black vinyl. When I opened it, I was scared the discs were horribly damaged. This isn't a color varient is it? Just some pressing plant messiness? I really wish they would stop using the same crappy paper inner sleeves for expensive albums like this. My copy was badly scuffed, scratched on Side B, and really dirty straight out of the shrink. The sound quality is pretty great though. I can't figure out how I feel about the music. There are some great tracks, but part of me wants some old school, simple Dre, and there's very little/none of that here. He's going for a very theatrical, epic album here. It sounds like it was an expensive project. The featured artist lists are overwhelming.
