Weldon Irvine – Cosmic Vortex (Justice Divine)

It's an excellent reissue. Sounds pretty killer: great stereo imagine, crisp, and deep.

This Weldon Irvine album sounds ok but not really good or audiophile... like others have mentioned the last track on side A sounds horrible! Distorted with crackles... And I listened to it with a new and clean Ortofon 2m black system and monitor speakers.
All in all this record doesn't sound better than the usual reissues nowadays. It is quite compressed (at least not to death...) and the high end is a bit muffled. However I have to say that I don't have an original to compare but I'm quite sure that the Original sounds better! I really wonder if this Pure Pleasure sticker is has anything to say about quality or quality control...

perfect sounding issue. pressing from pallas as always superb. the music is a must have. this needs to be in any serious jazz or funk record collection.

Sounds crisp and full with its solid bass. Plenty of treble too, sounds ‘hot’. Excellent remaster, but the pressing unfortunately has several defects in the last track on side A.

Personally, I think this is a good remaster. It is a little lacking perhaps in the higher end, but I think that's how it was recorded. very enjoyable.

WI is a pianist, band leader, composer, arranger & road manager who melds jazz instincts for free-form improvisation to a deep funk aesthetic, matched with strong, spiritual lyrics. Splendid deep groove funk!

Quite disappointed. Not sure it is from the mastertape as has that slightly muffled high end quality. Not sure it is remastered either unless it is remastered from an LP or another source.
Overall not very impressed. I am getting fed up of these reissues that claim to be audiophile quality and don't deliver.

Can anyone comment on the quality of this reissue? Is it from the master tapes?
