Notes
Originally intended as the second Darkthrone release after Soulside Journey.
The recording is an instrumental rehearsal tape, vocals weren't added until 1994 and it was finally released in 1996. Shortly after this recording they decided to abandon the death metal style in favor of black metal and instead went on to record A Blaze In The Northern Sky.

This previously unreleased follow up to Soulside Journey is a masterpiece that sadly gets overlooked. More complex and technical than their debut, it also reveals glimmers of the claustrophobic darkness found in their later BM efforts. The vocal performance is second to none, with Fenriz and Satyr really pulling out all the stops to deliver some of the sickest, most excruciating vocals ever heard. Throw into that some seriously killer riffs (Green Cave Float anyone?) and tight, technical drumming, and you have an album that easily stands up with the rest of their back catalog. Listen with an open mind and you will be rewarded. -

another album released at the wrong time... probably Darkthrone's most underrated album alongside Ravishing Grimness & Plaguewielder (imo)... My favorite vocals by them as well as the best drumming performance I've heard from Fenriz... If you're used to the first four releases by Darkthrone, then you'd probably be turned off by this release, but if you have an open mind... dig in. Will always be a favorite of mine by the mighty Darkthrone, never gets old.
