One of the best sounding records in my collection from one of the best jazz guitarists of all time. Listening to this record, you feel like you’re in the studio seriously, excellent mastering. George Benson you are a legend! -

Current standard CD version sold by Amazon US is a Warner Records reissue (not 'Bros') with everything artwork-wise being American but the disc manufactured in . A nice change from the usual discs made in Scratch City, Mexico. It's an older mastering with full dynamics, sounds wonderful. -
This 24-bit remaster, coming 38 years after its debut, sounds amazing. The clarity, dynamics, and mix are perfect. The soundstage is very wide and deep, making speakers nearly disappear. The sound can be as smooth as glass or as sharp as a razor, as the music dictates. Excellent!

This sounds fantastic. Only thing is that mine had some pretty crazy pops right at the start of record which scared me. But it cleared up within 10 seconds. the rest is pretty good, albeit on some quieter parts you can hear crackles/pops. -

This record doesn't fit the basic standards of quality. On my very first play, it's skipping, has random pops and beeps. And the quality is DEFINITELY not good. I will follow the advice below and order the doug sax japanese original version.

Edited one year agoWell folks, this was the album that finally revealed George Benson to the mainstream music world as a full-fledged star in his own right! To this day, it still amazes me that the previous record labels he was on outright REFUSED to let him sing on any of his records because I found his vocal work to be just as killer as his renowned guitar chops. Cover of Leon Russell's "This Masquerade" certainly made them eat quite a bit of foul-smelling crow when it became the breakout 'crossover' hit Benson so desperately needed to prove them wrong once and for all back then, lol. Of course, the Bobby Womack-penned title track, "Six To Four", and "Affirmation" have since gone on to become landmark smooth jazz radio staples for good measure.
'Breezin'' was also a rather important album in the sense that it sort of provided a "stopgap" in wake of legendary soul artist Donny Hathaway's sudden recording hiatus during that period (anyone who has seen Donny's 'Unsung' documentary will definitely know the reason for it so I won't go into it here). As for Benson, it turned out to be an opportunity of a lifetime and man did he ever make the most of it soon thereafter! Original LP release still remains a bona-fide jazz/funk/soul classic, but the 2001 Rhino/Warner Archives reissue even manages to outdo that one by adding two previously unreleased studio tracks from those recording sessions (a soulful cover of the Gale Garnett/Lalo Schifrin tune "Down Here On The Ground" and a funky Benson instrumental called "Shark Bite") as well as the single version of "This Masquerade" to top it off. Sadly, this one's long-OOP but if you somehow come across a CD copy in your search then by all means SNATCH IT UP PRONTO!!!
