the transition from wormhole to this creeps album is
like night and day , a huge step 4 mankind , it's like a car w square wheels (wormhole)
and a car w circle wheels (the creeps) this rolls !
or standing still soccer towards high speed attacking soccer ! -
Lots of people seem to compare this to wormhole and of course it’s not the same. Optical’s early ethereal tracks don’t sound like wormhole either. Each sound has its own era. The creeps is house and techno influenced dnb. Especially listening to it now after a couple of years. Lots of energetic tracks on this one. Check out time, white lightening, Pac-Man, rock the house, flightpath are all hyper induced, while tracks like syringe are maybe a little more subdued and rolling. Overall you can definitely hear the progression from wormhole. And it’s a good one, like I said it’s a different era. Just like the first bad company lp and the digital nation lp that followed it. Every dnb head should have this in their collection, it’s a perfect snapshot of the millennium dnb sound.

I'm sure someone will disagree with me but I prefer this over Wormhole. This album came out when I was knee deep in raving at One Nation, Slammin, World Dance etc in 2000/2001 and most tunes got battered, very hazy memories of Flightpath, Resurrection, White Lightning and Rock Tha House being played most weekends! Very dirty album with lots of character...

Anyone selling only the jackets and all the inserts? I was able to piece this whole LP out of a record shop and got a fantastic deal.

Probably my least favourite album they've put out, the tracks don't have as much character as I'd expect (e.g Flightpath), however the introduction of MC Ryme Tyme was certainly the right move. This being said it's the worst of a good lot, so it's still worth owning.

The second album from the mighty Ed Rush & Optical, "The Creeps" showcases some of their best work. Although it isn't as seminal as "Wormhole", the tracks "Resurrection" and "Fastlane" are weapons of mass dancefloor destruction. Although many people's favorite track on this album is "Pacman", I personally like the Ram Trilogy remix better as the original doesn't reference the classic game. Still a very good album from the neuro masters.

Edited 10 years agoEd Rush & Optical - Pacman; No Pacman here, it's Space Invaders b-line. (is that why it's Ram Trilogy remix in most other places 'cause they mugged out?)

From track 1- Resurrection it hits straight in your face. Every single track is hard, fast and show no mercy. Fast racer sharp drum programming and sinister basslines, this had me going for weeks in thrills.
One of my favorite Ed Rush & Optical works actually that is so great to listen trough headphones on full blast but not the sophistication to you might seek but when you need the nosebleed stuff, it serves its purpose.
..Classic stuff.
