This OG all- analogue box is the best sounding release of Pulse, it beats the CD, Bluray and the re-issued Pink Floyd Records remastered box cut from digital masters. -
Like several digitally recorded albums I own, it has a very low hum I don't get on older or AAA records. Not noticable with music, and crowd but irritating at the beginning of each side. None the less, it's a very good live album that captures PF minus Waters performing flawlessly perhaps with studio overdubs.

This CD sounds fantastic. I listened to it in my car recently (yes I have a CD player in my car.. lol) and the sound is enveloping... equally as good on my system at home. definitely worth it.

I have the 2016 CD release 0724349143623 and I can easily grab it... it sounds fantastic, go get them if you see them somewhere, yes it doesn't have the iconic flashing light, but I will definitely buy a set of boxes on vinyl this year too so I'll be looking forward to it...lest I forget, my build is a Sony ES 33 CD player + ESS Sabre DAC 9028Q2M preamp -

Sounds amazing. Crank this loud, and it'll shake the whole house. -
Edited 3 months agoThis one has everything: classic songs by a legendary band, perfectly played and recorded, beautifully packaged with a fantastick artwork. And guess what... You can easily find a clean copy for 10 bucks... Or else, you can spend ten times more for a vinyl copy spread over 8 sides, that might come scratched out of the box. Tough choice, huh?
-
My copy arrived with the box, book, jackets and inserts in perfect shape, but while inspecting the discs I found the third and fourth records had big scratches, they didn't affect the sound at all except for 2 or 3 mild pops here and there but still, an eyesore I couldn't live with, so I asked for a replacement, got it, took the vinyls from the second copy and replaced the scratched ones, so now I have a perfect copy. Soundwise this is very close to the CD version I have of this record, dunno why people complain so much about it, saying stuff like it lacks bass or a wider soundstage, I myself have tower speakers and a subwoofer, so I almost never have problems with the low end, and regarding the wider soundstage, well, it is a pink floyd gig, why would you go for a vinyl instead of the blu ray which has a 5.1 dts master audio (96/24) sound, huh? people nowadays seem to buy vinyls for the hype rather than the sound, so they don't actually know what they are getting and thus, they end up disappointed when the sound is not like they from their mp3 files, seriously. Anyway, package is top notch, discs house in printed sleeves inside cardboard jackets, I put plastic sleeves inside these as well to store the vinyls so they don't get scratched any further. This is not a mandatory record for pink floyd fans imo, I enjoy more watching the gig than only listening to it, but for any completist like myself, it is indeed a fancy article to own so I would recommend it nonetheless, just get your fingers crossed you get a copy that's not horribly scratched.

Edited 4 months agoThis CD sounds VERY good. Recording live music can be "chancy". They nailed it with this one.
For Reference-Marantz 2270, Oppo BDP 83, Yamaha NS-1000M -
This pressing sounds very good, no surface noise, nice soundstage and just a very good sounding pressing overall. Unfortunately, like many others have said, two of my records came with big marks on them (one had a melting? mark on comfortably numb and one had a huge scratch throughout on the run and Time). The marks are inaudible on my copies, but they look quite bad, so dont hesitate to request an exchange if your copy arrives with such damages, especially if they are audible.
