hey does anyone have plain pink inner sleeves with these CDs? in all the images they are hard covered and printed with logos but in my case there is nothing on them lol. ordered from getondown in november 2024

also, the hypesticker catalog number says TEG-75515-2-ST1 and the identifiers are different on cd matrices. i guess it is a different pressing then 🤔

Can’t believe this pinnacle classic is still this cheap. I mean seriously - Pete Rock’s production on this is like four contemporary Jungle Brothers records neatly filtered and layered on top of eachother. And I love early Jungle Brothers. But I’m saying, this is advancing the artform by like 5-10 years in one step. If any criticism is warranted then maybe they could have shaved 3-5 tracks off of the album. But my god does this still stand the test of time. Again, Pete was doing things producers were catching up to in like 96/97 on this, and this came out in ’92. A-m-a-z-i-n-g.

Not much to say here actually, this is a huge classic and a key work in the career of both, Pete Rock and the sadly underappreciated CL Smooth. I love his voice, his style, his flow and wordplay. Lots of classic tunes on here for sure, from "Straighten It Out", the undying "They Reminisce Over You", dedicated to Troy of Heavy D & the Boyz, a close friend of both, then there is the "Creator" Remix, "The Basement" and "Skinz" bring some damn fine features and overall it still stands super firm after more than 30 years on the back and is one of those albums which capture the 90s hip hop perfectly. A true classic. However, this pressing is really good too, no obvious differenes to the original, while my edition makes my head scratch. The Matrix numbers match, but it misses the embossed logo on the back, while the pressing companion from 2012 with the missing logo (https://discogs.librosgratis.biz/release/5577410-Pete-Rock-CL-Smooth-Mecca-And-The-Soul-Brother) would offer completely different numbers. So obviously there are copies around which lack the logo stamp, but otherwise are the same, coming from the same pressing plant, coming from the same run, vinylwise speaking. Maybe someone can confirm or deny.

The bonus track written as "Mecca And The Soul Brother (Remix)" is actually the EP Version from the "The Creator / Mecca And The Soul Brother" 12" promo single.

My outer sleeve has no colour. It's just black / white/ grey.
