John Coltrane – Olé Coltrane

This is a good pressing. Bass is nice and deep.

Absolutely incredible pressing. Soundstage is massive. Instrument separation is ridiculous. Sounds perfectly balanced especially for a japanese pressing, which are usually very bright.

My copy is silent, flat, just perfect.

If you pre-ordered the Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 Series of Ole Coltrane (or Coltrane's Sound), it has been cancelled for unforeseen circumstances, per Acoustic Sounds.

Usually pretty happy with the pressing quality of these wax times and the price... it did an okay job on side one with all that music... but it was mastered kind of low I guess to get it all in there without groovecramming... probably best to seek out any other version... even the original 1980s CD flat transfer. Gave this one to somebody with a Crosley... other than the quiet mastering though the vinyl was superb... I don't get how this budget label can press such clean vinyl and I've got a scrub every other so-called audiophile pressing before I can listen to it...

I think this is a fairly flat transfer from the tapes. Before the remastering had begun...been grabbing these early CD versions while they are still cheap as chips... before the noise reduction before the remastering before the compression before the brickwalling...

It's still a Tom Dowd Atlantic so "high fidelity" is a stretch. But despite the cardboard drums and "two-track" rather than stereo soundfield, it sounds pretty sweet and detailed. My pressing was very good. But I'm convinced this series exists so that Rhino can come along and sell oversized poly outer bags at outragious prices. None that I have fit except those intended for box sets. And the LP does not slide easily back on the pocket, becasue while the spine is as wide as the day is long, the opening doesn't provide any room to breathe.

Enjoyable listen, clean, clear separation, narrow soundstage when played through headphones, but still enjoyable. Good quality for the price. Looking for information on who was the mastering engineer.
