I have an Italian pressing, on the post 78, red and green virgin label, same matrix/runout. -
sounds really nice. only complaint is they 'fixed' the cymbal crash on "Jennifer". maybe it was unintentional but I always appreciated it as a strange moment on a strange album -

Mind-boggling experience going into the then-new Virgin Megastore in Oxford St around 1979 and seeing a rack with about 50 sealed copies of this for £1.99 each. Most record shops in those days only had one copy of each album out in the racks. All the others were behind the counter. The Virgin store was the first record I went into with 'live' stock. Dozens of the same title all racked out. Mind-blowing sight for me in those days. The first time I went in I'd taken a load of magic mushrooms which heightened the experience somewhat. I'll never forget the Can section with 50 Monster Movies, 50 Tago Magos, 50 Ege Bamyasis etc. Freaky. -

How does this version sounds compared with the one from the recent boxset? Any comparisons? -
Yes, as mentioned by other people, this pressing is noise-free and quiet.
However the sound is also thin and extremely muted (as in you have to raise the volume significantly to listen to it), lacking body, verve and dynamics. (As tangerinegripz mentioned in his review below) -
This pressing is astoundingly good. It sounds analog to my ears but was apparently mastered digitally. If someone here has been able to compare this to an original, would love to hear about it.

I bought this in 2010, I throw it on every few months , it sounds great! I only have the cd to compare it to so unless u have an original... this is it, i dont see too many reissues of this for it being such a great record
