Wot no mention of the Two Lone Swordsmen banger Circulation in these notes? Must have made my neighbours cry learning to mix with that wonky masterpiece when it came out.

Gotta agree with those people giving this a slating, even if I say this as a Warp fan. Bought this when released- underwhelmed then, still underwhelmed. Doesn't reflect well at all. Only side f is worth listening to when Mira Calix and Mark Bell finally put a couple of decent tracks down. I lost interest in Warp shortly after this period unsurprisingly, despite living near to Sheffield and having shopped in the Warp store. Sadly lost their way.

WTF? The worst 90s Warp compilation! A lot of weak tracks from great artists. Sad.

Never has such a well-respected label provided better music than ever. Warp has never steered me wrong, and this compilation proves my point!

A well-good collab with legends Squarepusher and Aphex Twin, a nice Boards of Canada song, another success by the music mechanisms Plaid, a happy-go-lucky fun N.O.W tune, a fun lil number by Jimi Tenor, a Plone song that's not bad, and a harsh techno tune by Mark Bell off LFO.

Celebrating their 100th release, this compilation contains all-exclusive songs, all greatly appreciated! :)

I ed on this the first time around, because it was $35 or something, but I always loved the Mark Bell track, because I love fists in the air banging techno. And it has his signature elements of swing, off kilter melodies and distorted drums.... Loved the BoC as well. I actually think it's one of their best tunes. Plaid track nice if you like Plaid but nothing remarkable from them. Same with Aphex/squarepusher.

My uncle bought me this CD for my 17th birthday, and I am grateful to him that he did. Through this album I have come to love the work of WARP Records, and all it has to offer.
The contents of this CD itself are inconsistent in quality, something that is to be expected. The opening track is still a favourite of mine to this day, as is the track by Broadcast. The only one I actively dislike is the Autechre track - it drives me insane. Otherwise, tracks are either good (BoC, Plaid, Plone), stupid but somehow enjoyable (Jimi Tenor) or just OK (the rest of the CD). Despite all this it works as a compilation, and that's what really matters.

great compilation, personal favorites are the BoC, Broadcast, Jimi Tenor and Red Snapper tracks, although heavyweights Autechre and AFX/Squarepusher both pull their own weight. not to be missed

Highly overrated mid-era Warp compilation. Really the only good and memorable track here is by the then-ascendant Boards of Canada. ("Orange Romeda" is probably just a footnote, however, when one examines their entire catalogue.) The rest is either dull and/or forgettable.

The Autechre track finds them in the early stages of their maddening decade-long exploration of non-music. Nightmares on Wax was near his creative peak when WAP100 was released, yet "Fishtail Parker" is just a goofy repetitive song with little to offer; similar results hamper the Jimi Tenor and Red Snapper tracks. Plaid, also in the midst of some very solid creative output, appears with one of their weakest tracks ever. The Plone track is just a sad reminder of Warp's ill-conceived (but thankfully short-lived) experiment with that outfit.

Certainly almost all these artists have done great things. It's just as if none of them wanted to part with their best work for this compilation. Perhaps this album is foreshadowing the decline in which Warp would soon find themselves. Avoid.
