Notes
10th studio album released January 1976.
Bowie succeeds in blending American rhythms and western European harmonies and adopts an alter ego for this creative phase, the Thin White Duke, a shadowy figure who returns to Europe from America to explore her roots.
The album has been remastered several times throughout the years. The first of these was in 1991 by Rykodisc, featuring live versions of "Word on a Wing" and "Stay" as bonus tracks; in 1997, Rykodisc reissued the album on a gold CD as part of their limited-edition Au20 line. The second remaster was by EMI and Virgin Records in 1999; this version lacked any bonus tracks and featured no-noising to remove tape hiss. In 2010, the album received a special edition reissue featuring a new flat transfer from the original master tape and the live album Who Can I Be Now? [1974-1976], which also included the 2010 remix and Live Nassau Coliseum '76. The 2016 remaster would receive a standalone release the following year.

I disagree with those negative comments here. This pressing does sound dynamic & punchy on my system. Especially the low-end is amazing. Plus it looks great on white wax. It's only inferior to my 1976 Japanese pressing which sounds a tad more "natural" & lively. -

This is also one of the best sounding records in my collection. I'm impressed by the dynamic range, the instrument seperation, the punch... I also have the 2021 pressing on white wax, which sounds great too but also a tad less lively. -
At first I liked this pressing, because it has deep bass that stood out. But after I heard original 1976 US pressing my thoughts changed. Bass on this 2017 pressing dominated too much and cover up other sounds. I like the original pressing better.

There’s a little confusion with this pressing. _
implemented the label code in May 1976 and the record cover was revised to reflect it, this release uses the same plates so it’s a first press with a revised jacket. This is helpful in knowing when the record came off the press. The other release would have been pressed around January 76 and this one around April 76

On my shitty setup, it already sounded good
Having recently upgraded my setup, I spun this record again. This pressing sounds so full and dynamic, and little to no cracks/pops at all.
Easily one of the better sounding records I got in my collection -

can’t believe how mind blowing this sounds. punchy, dynamic, soulful. probably the best sounding from that batch of reissues.
