This record was dope when it came out. ‘And the beat goes on’ Whispers sample was great. For a teen like me at the time- my first introduction to that track.

No discerning West (or East) coast electro head should be without this beauty! Also not forgetting 'Straight From The Jungle' on the flip- the kind of cut up stupidity Coldcut chopped to bits in the 90's. No excuses not to own, still a few for sale loitering on these pages... Classic dynamix II !

there was nothing like this in '87..that bassline cut through like nothing else. "Just Give The DJ A Break" is a true classic! All these years later and stands up proud.

All about the main track on the A side "Just Give The D.J. A Break (Dub Mix)". One of the few classic '80s miami bass / electro jams which carried through from hip hop pirate radio still being played onto the next generation of pirate radio stations (the ones that really made a name for themselves in the acid house scene that is) and warehouse parties of the late '80s in the UK.

Personally think the track really comes alive in at the breakdown when the TR-808 is left to its own devices at approximately 3:00 minutes. This is when one realises the reason of its mythical status and the powerful effect this legendary drum machine has and can do. I was instantly addicted to that drum sequence from the very first moment I'd heard it.

Pitch it up closer to a house tempo, so that it can be played alongside warehouse classics and pacier electro tracks and, hey presto, a real warehouse boomshaker of a track. Oh, in case one needs reminding... CRANK THAT MUTHA UP !!!
