I rarely play this as it's crackly. Loaned it to a classmate who ended up in a psychiatric hospital and didn't see for years. Anyway, bought this in '78 and it actually still sounds pretty good, except between tracks. Not audiophile mastering in any sense of the term and mids a bit compressed, but very listenable. Good enough for a return to high school where no one had any clue about what was going on in Blighty.

Rick's cymbals have more dynamic range / clarity on this than on the original press, but Bruce's bass is a little shoehorned unfortunately.

The mastering on this CD is digitally identical to that of the Direction, Reaction, Creation box set, except that this CD is 0.2 dB louder. (I specifically compared the linked pressing, but I believe all editions of the box set have identical mastering.)
