My copy of this sounds excellent. No annoying surface noise on my copy. Really happy to own a copy of this :)

Great album! Sound quality is amazing and very clear. I do enjoy this original version more than the re-recorded from the 2000’s.

Extremely disappointed to say that the 2 copies of this reissue that I've seen are a mess. I purchased one last month (1/21) and the second this month (2/21); both have some sort of cloudy/milky haze in portions of their side A. This haze appears to coincide with surface noise consistent through the affected areas.

I've cleaned one (with "Audio Intelligence no. 6" and a VCM) and it made no difference. Returning both, cannot recommend their current run, especially considering the cost. I do own several other recent comparable Japanese imports (not Studio Ghibli, but Sony Music/Great Tracks, Ryuichi Sakamoto's "Esperanto" and "B-2 Unit"), no issues.

Outside of this manufacturing defect taking up ≈80% of side A, the music sounds amazing and very well presented. Quality packaging and visual presentation.

I would be willing to bet that earlier runs of this reissue may be fine and this issue may be specific to this most recent batch.

Beautifully done reissue. This pressing is clean and noise free. The reproduction of the gatefold sleeve is totally faithful. As far the quality of the music, this is my favorite of all of Hisaishi's Ghibli work. Some of the synthier pieces stand alongside the great works of 70's-80's prog or krautrock. Infinitely relistenable and a masterpiece of the genre (whatever genre you decide it belongs to).

This is the original soundtrack, that is why there are these syntheziser arrangments because those were in the original japanese verison of the movie. I belive the english (disney) dub from the 2000s, which is the version most americans are familiar with has a rerecorded score. The same goes for the laputa ost on vinyl. I personally think that the orignal versions are better.

Great record ! BIg and great soundstage. But, like said before, some different synthesizer arrangments.

Nice production value and mastering. You may be surprised or disappointed if you expect to hear the same versions of the themes as heard in the actual movie; many of these tracks are synthesizer arrangements. Well-arranged, but different. The symphonic tracks that are included here are stunning, however.
