Anybody tell me if these two giants of music who already made an album together and enjoyed it so much they got together again and made this the follow-up: did the sparks really fly??? Sorry...couldn't resist LOL... this one blows the first Basie/Sinatra collab LP outta the water...smokin session, underrated.

These two giants of music, had already made an album together, and enjoyed it so much that they got together again, and made this, the follow up. The swing sparks really did fly, so much so, that the Basie Band and Frank, played live concerts together, many times. Informative liner notes by arranger Quincy Jones, who really goes into detail about the artistry of Mr Sinatra. This is quite a short album, and just leaves you wanting more, so what I do is, when it ends, is I simply press play again, whilst having a good think about the whereabouts of the first record that they made in the studio, and the Live At The Sands record.

This release interestingly has made in Japan, on the disc, but Printed In The USA, on the paperwork.

Very good sounding release! Vocal clarity, and warm orchestra tone. Richer sounding and deeper than the 1971 stereo reissue LP.

Nicely balanced mix for the era. Quincy Jones production. These arrangements swing!

Make that review below for Sinatra’s Sinatra. Sorry folks! This SACD is however, equally impressive. Very highly recommended!

This edition is absolutely stunning! Frank is at his peak performance and Nelson’s arrangements and orchestrations have become definitive. The sound nuance in both vocal timber and orchestral detail are truly enhanced, some of the best ever heard, and these recordings were made in 1963! This item is both hard to find and quite pricy, but if you can pull it off, it really is genuinely worth it.

Mr. S with some good folks backing him on this Reprise album...He has the Count Basie Band for musical and some crafty arrangements by Quincy Jones..."It Might As Well Be Swing" is a classic Sinatra album from the mid 60's...No better singer using top phrasing on every cut...Good stuff here...
