Carole King – Tapestry

This edition is punchy, crisp, dynamic, has a narrower stereo image than the 8701 of this, Carole King - Tapestry, and a higher output level. Not as detailed, resonant, nor warm as the 8701. So, different but still excellent.

great disc. there is some distortion on the vocals, although, i read that's just part of the recording.

What a great package! Oh, wait, the original recording has been compressed and noise reduced.

Very loud cut (hot cut - not to be confused with loud brickwalled mastering), however my microline stylus does an amazing job doing justice to how the loud master was intended to play.

Extremely dynamic, superb clarity and overall very holographic soundstage. One of my cherished records in my collection.

This 1977 pressing highlights the instruments more cleary than the og pressing when compared side by side.

My copy has Matrix / Runout: 1A EK34946 14 B, but has only one writing credit for the first 7 tracks on the CD face.

This is a fine pressing and for pressing quality matches the so called Supervinyl of the one step. The truth is, as the 33's sides play out the performance advantage of the 1 Step simply grows and grows but this is the best 33 ive heard and it only gives away a little in bass and Caroles voice smoothness. This ones alot less expensive though! That being said the SACD cost me even less than both and i think its DSD layer beats the Mofi 33 and 45 vinyl editions anyway!

Flat sound and bad dynamics
Voice is unexpressive, looks like there’s something between the singer and the microphone
The pops are not omnipresent but really disturbing the listening experience
Overall mediocre pressing, I’m pretty sure the old versions sound way way better.

I love, as many people probably do I suppose, how simple and natural this album sounds. The instrumentation and arrangements are very real and unadorned. The songs are A1. The lyrics are almost conversational but at the same time work so well in a creative sense. Happy to have this record. It sounds great and is a well preserved 1971 UK edition.

Everything matches except my back cover doesn't have the Epic boxed logo at bottom right. Just the catalog number appears PE 34946
