Transco

Profile:

Founded 1947; major manufacturer of blank lacquer discs for vinyl production. DO NOT USE for Lacquer Cut At, Manufactured By, or Record Company roles on mass-produced vinyl records. Use "Made By" LCCN credit only when documenting acetate instant-cut recordings. If a runout code indicates that the Master was cut using a Transco lacquer blank, please enter this information in Notes only. In 2007, Transco was purchased by Apollo Masters (its chief competitor for decades), who marketed blanks under both the Transco and Apollo brands.

Identification:
• For Atlantic Records 1960s releases with a trailing, solo "X" at the end of the runout, please add a Release Note: 'X' in runouts indicates master was cut using a Transco lacquer blank.
• For Canadian releases mastered at Transco lacquer blank.
• For acetate discs bearing a "TRANSCO" stamp near the spindle hole, please use the LCCN credit Made By: Transco, and add a Release note.
