I am asking the opinion of the community concerning split releases (cf. John Coltrane & Lee Morgan - The Best Of Birdland: Volume 1.) where in two cases the sleeve has main artists as "John Coltrane & Lee Morgan", although these artists aren't collaborating, replacing the "as on" er with a forward slash (http://discogs.librosgratis.biz/viewimages?release=4696255).
Two s are of the opinion the er should be as on release despite it being a split release; by contrast I interpret RSG §2.6.1 as that a forward slash has to be used as a er on split releases regardless of the actual er, i.e. overruling the "as on release" rule - in this way making it immediately clear that we're dealing with a split release. Who's right here, or, what is the correct interpretation of RSG §2.6.1, specifically its last sentence? -

The 3rd line of the full paragraph makes clear that slashes can be used if they are on the release, regardless of the type:
"2.6.1. The field is used for the words that link two or more artist names together, such as 'vs.', 'Meets', 'And', '&', 'w/', and 'With' . Abbreviations are accepted if they appear that way on the release. The field can also be used to enter separators (such as commas or slashes), if they appear on the release. Please don't leave the field empty - if there is no used on the release, use a comma. Use a forward slash "/" for 'split' type releases where the artists aren't collaborating."
The last line relates to split releases which do not have their own er. -

Thanks for your reply. I rather read the last line of RSG §2.6.1 as a general line about 'split' type releases. Note that the concept of 'split' type releases is mentioned here (i.e., in this last line) for the first time. I read that line as if to mean:
"Use a forward slash "/" for 'split' type releases where the artists aren't collaborating", regardless of the actual er used on the release.
Put otherwise: Always use a forward slash "/" for 'split' type releases. -

Only if there is no er on the release. I think that is subordinate to the as on release part of the relevant Guideline. In other words, I agree with the s who told you that your edit is incorrect.

another case for ambiguous guidelines to be revised i think -

I gladly will revert my modifications of course, but let's first try to clear up the ambiguity not only noted by jcolton302. I will send a SR to hear what is realy meant in RSG §2.6.1. -

There's nothing ambiguous about it. The whole relevant part of the guideline is:
Please don't leave the field empty - if there is no used on the release, use a comma. Use a forward slash "/" for 'split' type releases where the artists aren't collaborating.
It's only ambiguous if you deliberately want to read it wrong. -

while I see your point, I don't think this can be considered a valid edit -
