Move your courser over them and they'll tell you. -

The release status highlighting (telling us new additions to the database, edits, and releases that need changes) has been changed to colored band on the left hand side of the releases list. Yellow is for a 'new submission', gray is an 'update', red is 'needs changes', and orange is used on Master Releases that contain multiple release states. -

We'll be looking at the whole error check system soon. I'm not sure that flagging releases with ticked warnings will be that helpful, as they appear for things like capitalisation as well as more 'serious' things such as new artists / labels. -

Maybe the gray&yellow release could be striped (2 colors in stripes) if there are warnings concerning new artist/labels.
The quicker those get checked, the better, as invalid entries tend to provoce more invalid entries often.
Another stripe color can be used for possible duplicates.
Cap errors and other minor warnings can be ignored by the color tags.
Maybe it would also be usefull to have a compare function:
showing another release next to a submitted one, instead of the previous edits on the history/vote page.
This can be especially usefull for possible duplicates.
Next to a duplicate warning, there might be a button [Compare] (when voting) which shows the possible duplicate next to the submission on the history/edit page.
Something else could be a checkbox (in advanced search) that lets you only search on releases with a certain warning
(search on credit roles not in credit list, new artist/labels, possible duplicates) -

Instead of introducing new colours, having a legend would be a good thing to start with. -

Instead of introducing new colours
hey man, 3 colors isn't that difficult...
I learned their significance by clicking on a gray, yellow and red release and see what's written next to the 'history/edit'-button...

the legend is shown when you move your mouse over the color...
