Notes

The European release - no mispressings, this version only comes with one tracklist!

Packaged in a Burgopak design case (see burgopak.com) - the card sleeve holding the CD booklet and the digipak tray holding the disc are both fitted into a card box, pulling the booklet sleeve out of the right side causes the digipak tray to emerge from the left side (both are fixed to the box and cannot be detached). The album was also released in a standard jewel case as FSOLCD102.

Engineered at the Galaxial Pharmaceutical, 1997-2002.

Why is this listed as "Future Sound Of London Recordings" when the copyright is clearly Artful Records? Also where's the Universal Records information?

Burned out Dougans & Cobain try to recreate Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Only two problems: 1. It's not 1967 anymore. 2. They aren't Lennon/McCartney by any stretch of imagination. Result: epic FAIL.

I don't agree with anyone here really. I love how they turned their sound into this. I mean all humans pritty much change in 7 years, and musicans really do sometimes! There will allways be a missunderstanding between the creator and the lister :) This album is really something!

Yes! Finally! A record from the extremely innovative and experimental guys behind FSOL, and not least, Amorphous Androgynous. So - before hearing the first track, I was really, really ready for some new AA, also trying to prepare myself for a letdown.
Then - to my, I'm sorry to say, disappointment - the old, experimental style was nowhere to be found. Embarrassing harmonics and vocals soon filled the air, and unlike FSOL/AA (which also, let's it, has the occasional "off" pattern), these sequences took ages to release me from their sticky grip.
What a shock! As you know, the old AA experimented with funk, guitar music, weird techno without 4:4 beats, etc. Well done it was indeed too! One of my favorite records.

On this CD, the style confinements are far narrower. It's basically a "FSOL take" on the more experimental parts of -> pop music (swallow) <- from the 60s,70s and 80s (imagine Bowie and Pink Floyd :/). It is also suspiciously in the direction of excellent Shpongle, only without the innovativeness, different styles and swarms of moods.

The sound, production and sample selection is excellent, but pop/Bowie-like vocals in Floyd-like environments.. let's just say it has been done. It is probably the best "60s/70s/80s-like" album ever, though. Groovy..

Don't fear (yet) though, AA was always supposed to be a vent for FSOL to publish the music they didn't really condone (but still liked). In a previous interview, FSOL even supposedly mocked the music of AA, as being everything they didn't stand for. And this is a bold experiment (..although of the "we hate our fans"-kind)

Anyway: Middle finger up from everyone who've learned to hate the anti-nerd, anti-intellectual, gitar-dictatorship, "music made for getting musicians laid"-mush these 30-40 years gave us. :(

(Crossing fingers A LOT(!) for another FSOL release)
So there. A big, fat, ugly, neutral 3/5 - 3 for sound quality and the element of surprise.
