I Robot...
The story of the rise of the machine and the decline of man, which paradoxically coincided with his discovery of the wheel... And a warning that his brief dominance of this planet will probably end, because man tried to create robot in his own image.

The album was recorded and mixed at Abbey Road Studios, London, between December 1976 and March 1977

Started with a first US pressing and liked the album so much I sought this out. Bought here NM at good price...blown away. Amazing sounding pressing.

Edited one year agoI started with the MOV Legacy reissue. For anyone in the EU, that will represent the best vfm recent issue of this LP. It is excellent across the board.... superb of pressing quality while refined, smooth and enjoybable of sound
I then bought the MOFI 1-Step hoping for a big upgrade and it left me frankly feeling angry.... the wasteful over MOFI'd packaging. The warped record. The off centered'ness. The noisy clicks and pops that couldnt be washed or played away. The low level cut. The terrible value for money. At least my wallet was happy after the return.
Finally this 45rpm 2xLP. At half the cost of the 1 step could this offer the upgrade over the MOV and not leave me gutted? YES!!!! First off the packaging is the best bar none. Lovely solid tip on gatefold. No excess packaging and thus wasting of space. Perfect. The records.... both flat, centered and once washed nigh silent of playback. The cut??? More alive, more dynamic than the 1 step and certainly above the MOV too. For me its the most enjoyable and engaging listen. It does justify the high UK price i paid as a result. Is it twice as good as the MOV? Nope, its a diminishing return but now ive heard it this is the reference. They are inseperable in pressing quality mind.
The next reissue will be the 45rpm 1 Step which has potential to be the one press to rule them all but i will hate the packaging, hate the price tag and if it was as badly pressed as the 33 i tried then it would leave me even more remorseful which i dont want to experience again, so this one right here will do very nicely for me!
PS the SACD kicks ass too. -

Edited one year agoNo comparison to the OG. This album runs deep and wide.
The album I use to show off my system -
Edited 2 years agoThis is such a beautifully sounding release, just like "eye in the sky". Huge soundstage and great dynamics.
-
Edited 2 years agoInsanely good sound quality. Huge soundstage, dead quiet vinyl, and heavy-duty artwork - without seam splits. Forgot buying the OneStep. Everything you want is here in this release.

Sound is amazing! Can’t imagine the One Step sounding better but we shall see. Easy purchase for me.
