Increasingly bizarre to witness this album selling for 100 times what I paid for it in 1993. This band couldn't get arrested 30 years ago, and now the tastemakers of today think it's worth selling a kidney for. Goodness knows if the modern pressings are that much worse. I feel compelled to find out now.

Slowdive's Souvlaki is still shockingly underrated in my opinion, I am glad their fanbase continues to grow, this music is timeless
-
love this record, but i am asking if any one has an original pressing that they would be willing to part with for a reasonable price?

I bought this LP after finding it in the bargain bin of a Virgin Megastore for 2.99 in 1994. The band were deeply unfashionable at the time as grunge and britpop displaced shoegaze. It's a classic obviously.

To my mind and heart, one of the best albums ever made. You can listen to thousands of complete albums that will never reach this level emotional power and depth. Thank you Slowdive, and whatever muses possessed you when you made this. Moussaka Chaos is better than the original (Souvlaki Space Station), but otherwise, it's a perfect record.

I love it more than loveless. Loveless is a pure shoegaze record and very aggressive, but souvlaki is a wonderful blend of shoegaze, dream pop, space rock plus brian eno. You can listen to it all day and never get tired

No offense intented, but around 21 comments, none of them praising this LP? Guess I will give it a try then.
I've recently started "gazing my shoes". I do not know much about this genre, but when you think about it, it does not really matter in the end. This 40 minute long piece will completely catch you offguard. Ambient-esque soundscape, chilled guitars, spacey moments (spacegaze anyone?), vocals you can't really catch, Brian Eno, the Ambient God appearing in several tunes...masterpiece from the first second till the last. You don't have to even think about skipping a song or two, it's 100% complete and flawless.
5/5, this release is something colossal, and Slowdive seems pretty much peerless to my novice shoegaze ears.
