Edited 3 years agoThis is a stellar live set by Johnny Cash at San Quentin prison. He is a brilliant storyteller; his conversational stage patter endears himself to his audience. The crowd is lively, which adds positive energy to the performance.
I wish there were more songs, but everything on here is meaningful and...well executed (no pun intended).
Highlights are "Boy Named Sue", "San Quentin"(#2), and "Peace in the Valley", which is marvelous. Some background vocals by June Carter.
Recording is clean. Great sounding pressing.
Recommended.
