Edited 4 months agoGreat first pressing. Sounds perfect. One of my favorite records. Soundstage is outstanding.

This is another OG NIN pressing that I'm blessed to own due to a tragic situation. Typically I do not seek out expensive original copies, especially if there are good reissues available (in this case I don't know if there are). But my copy is in pristine condition and is one of the best sounding records I own. If you chance upon a copy for a good price, this is very special and worth whatever you are comfortable spending on it.

Edited one year agoIf you are searching for an original vinyl pressing, good luck with that. If you are buying it for an investment, I have nothing to say about that. But if you are buying the vinyl to LISTEN to because you like this album, I just snagged a sealed copy on the Bicycle label (US) that I highly recommend. I know there have been some who say this pressing is sub-par, maybe they just got a bad copy. Because besides playing from beginning to end with zero problems, it sounds amazing. One of the best things about it is its almost complete lack of background noise. It’s not digitally black, but pretty close. The music erupts from this very quiet background with a complete lack of distortion, so this crystal clarity makes this record SO enjoyable! Oh, yeah, the music is good, too, so there that ;)

So this is the first US pressing, as opposed to this one: https://discogs.librosgratis.biz/release/4533205-Nine-Inch-Nails-Pretty-Hate-Machine that's the Canadian first pressing?

I wish I had voting privileges because the deletion of pop rock and synthpop to just industrial in the genre field is BS. If we were talking about Einstürzende Neubauten then sure, but this is synthpop. It's just a bit more aggressive than usual. I say this as someone who has listened to this album for 30 years.

I own this pressing and the SRC, as well as the 2010 bicycle 2LP. The 2010 is quieter and sounds lifeless. What’s up with that? I thought Reznor was good with the 2010 pressing?
I didn’t really dig the Downward Spiral “definitive pressing” compared to the original either.
