This SACD is a tricky one to get the proper equipment to play and output the MULTICHANNEL layer. While SACD releases usually would play on most standard CD and DVD players, to access a MULTICHANNEL layer some SACDs began to include later required CD/DVD/and now Bluray players that have SACD Multichannel decoding capability. After all that, you need your surround RECEIVER to decode the signals from the player, too, so you can hear it using all of the speakers in your surround system properly. So, I bought this many years ago and was lucky my OPPO DVD player had SACD multichannel decoding capability....and so my receiver played it correctly. The QUAD version of this Doors album is important as it contains the earliest tracks from their first couple albums that were recorded on 2 track recorders - amd to make this early QUAD LP/8 TRACK release - these mixes were created on a special QUAD mixer and you'll hear nice discrete separation in each of the 4 channels, you will not hear even on some of the newest DVD/Bluray surround remasters today. It's quite an experience! SO THEREFORE - if you want to hear this TODAY and do not have SACD Multichannel equipment - THERE IS A NEW RELEASE of this QUAD MIX that was put on a BLURAY - as disc 3 on the new Rhino Doors - The Singles release! Your Bluray player will play it perfectly!

My system doesn't handle multichannel anymore, so this goes for the SACD stereo layer: sounds very nice to my ears, warm and detail. Keyboards and vocals are the protagonists here. So, just turn up the volume and enjoy this timeless music.
